Your Jing is your reservoir of fundamental energy, which you convert into wisdom over your lifetime. When you have a lot of it, you feel young and bouncy. When it runs low, you feel old and tired. This post will help you decide if your Jing is a little on the low side.

You can look after your Jing by making a few simple changes to how and what you eat.

How to eat

  • Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Instead, add new foods and cut down on unwanted foods over two or more weeks

  • Eat regular meals at regular times

  • Always eat breakfast

  • Eat a large breakfast or lunch and a small evening meal

  • Don’t eat late at night, and avoid eating after 6pm if possible

  • Avoid overeating and stop before you feel full

What to eat

  • Almonds

  • Beans, especially black beans, kidney beans and lentils

  • Bee pollen

  • Beef

  • Cheese in small amounts

  • Chicken

  • Duck

  • Eggs, especially the yolk

  • Fish

  • Kidney in small amounts (preferably organic)

  • Liver in small amounts (preferably organic)

  • Milk in small amounts

  • Mussels

  • Pork

  • Pumpkin seeds

  • Royal jelly

  • Sesame seeds and tahini

  • Sunflower seeds

What to avoid

  • Avoid eating large amounts of animal products, meat and dairy at once. It is better to spread it over several meals in smaller portions

  • Avoid coffee, alcohol, nicotine and tobacco

  • Avoid refined sugars, processed foods and excessive salt
